1)How long does the appointment and procedure take)
On average clients spend 15mins at our clinics it can take quicker or longer depending on how bad the ear wax build up is alongside with any complications. You need to allow yourself 30mins for the appointment.
2)Do you offer this service for children?
Yes, we offer ear wax removal clinic for all age groups please call to discuss children are normally compliant from the age of 6 as long as the child can remain still the procedure can be carried out
3)Do I need to use ear drops prior to my appointment?
Ear wax softening drops are not always required but a good idea to use prior to appointment as everyone produces a different consistency of ear wax. If you are not in a hurry, then it is advisable to soften ear wax prior to appointment. If you want the wax to be removed immediately then you can attend the clinic straight away, we do use ear wax softening drops during the procedure if required.
4)Does ear wax removal procedure hurt?
Not always, 95% of our clients do not feel a thing normally complaining of a weird sensation others find it satisfying. However, if the ear wax is compacted alongside other conditions like swelling or infection then there can be some discomfort however there is no danger as the procedure is carried out professionally.
5)Do you visit care homes?
We provide domiciliary home visits across West Midlands (all areas of Birmingham), Staffordshire and Shropshire 7 days per week. We cover all care homes across the region and appreciate how important this service is for house bound and bedridden clients.
6)I have an infection do I need ear cleaning?
If the infection has produced exudate (discharge) that has blocked the ear then it is important that the exudate is cleared by microsuction so that when you use antibiotic ear drops, they have a nice clean ear to work in. We normally find that some clients end up using medication in clogged ears leading to treatment failure.
7)Do you offer ear syringing irrigation?
We offer all methods of ear wax removal we have the latest electronic irrigation machines. Your consultation will determine which is the best method sometimes irrigation is required in conjunction with microsuction. However, we advise against ear irrigation as the primary method as we get a lot of clients who have been elsewhere for irrigation and the wax was not removed leading to trapped water and infection. If irrigation is required, we do it safely and professionally.
8)What happens if I do not have ear wax?
If you do not have ear wax, then it is likely you have another condition in the ear which we see routinely. Whenwe inspect the ear if we find something else then we let you know and refer you to your GP we can send your GP an email explaining the situation. If you do not require cleaning, then we charge £20 to cover the appointment and advice on anything else diagnosed during the consultation.
9)What happens if you cannot remove the ear wax on the first visit?
It is highly likely your ear wax will be removed during your first visit as 95% of the time it does. However sometimes the ear wax can be compacted with other complications like infections or Keratosis Obutrans where you might need to soften the debris further for a few days in which case you will be given a follow up appointment we do not charge for any follow up appointments routinely but there are exceptionswhich will be explained during your appointment.
10)I have been elsewhere for ear wax removal which has been unsuccessful will you be able to help?
We see clients daily who have been elsewhere including NHS clinics where unsuccessful attempt has been made to remove the ear wax. We are normally able to remove the ear wax with no issues. We specialise in ear wax removal and have had broad range exposure to virtually all situations and have the expertise to address most situations. In such scenarios our clients do normally emphasise they wish they had been to us before. Most importantly all procedures are carried out by a health care professional ear wax removal expert we do not delegate these highly skilled duties to anyone else.
11)Do you do urgent emergency out of hours ear wax removal?
We are open extended hours seven days per week to make our services accessible to everyone and we hope you can attend during our normal operating hours. It is always best to contact us with your requirement, and we will do our best to accommodate we pride ourselves on providing a fast efficient service.
12)Do you remove foreign objects from the ear I have a cotton bud stuck inside?
We specialise in removing foreign objects from the auditory ear canal, we see patients daily in need of cotton bud removal or hearing aid filters and domes. We can remove this safely in a matter of seconds in fact we frequently get clients who have attended A&E at the hospital only to be turned away after waiting hours due to not having the necessary tools.
